The Gospel Message

What Jesus Did For Us

What Jesus Did For Us

The most important message that can ever be given is the message of forgiveness that comes only through faith in Jesus Christ. On the sixth day of creation, God created man, and man was given free will. God set man over all of the earth to cultivate it, and He placed the first humans, Adam and Eve, in the Garden of Eden. He gave them The Tree of Life to eat from, and all the other trees in the garden accept for one. Man disobeyed God when Adam and Eve decided to eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. That was the fall of man. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Since then, all of creation has been dealing with the effects of sin. We see it in death, war, deception, pain, poverty, hate, and every other evil that we as humanity must face. And the greatest effect was that because of our sin we on our own will one day die and be eternally separated from God.

But death did not win. Death did not win because God loved us so much that He sent His only Son to die in our place. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” Jesus died as a sacrifice for our sins. He paid the penalty so that we can be forgiven, set free, and made alive in Him. And then, as the greatest miracle of all, Jesus rose again, beating death and hell. Now if we believe in Him as our Lord and Savior and confess it with our mouth, then we will be saved. Romans 10:9 says, “That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

So the Gospel of Jesus is a story of grace. It is the story of humanity lost and separated from God. It is the story of a God who loved us too much to give up on us. Ultimately it is the story of Jesus, the Son of God, dying for us and raising again so that we might be saved. But it’s more than just a story. It’s the Truth.
