A reasonable adult knows that it’s time to take out the trash once that smell starts making itself known. Why don’t we do the same thing in our spiritual lives when it comes to sin? I believe it’s because we are acting like spiritual children.
The problem is that we kick and throw our arms around and we attempt to get out of His grasp—because we don’t want Him taking us anyplace we are not comfortable going. I can tell you plainly that there is someplace that God wants you to be, and He wants to continue to lead you there as you follow Him.
Some of us are faking it. Our walk with Jesus, our devotion to the Lord, our involvement in the kingdom of God, and our love for one another is part of an external makeover that we have constructed in order to impress those who don’t know what’s on the inside.
When I think about poker, I’m reminded of my Christian walk. God expects us to lay all our chips down and risk everything on a promise.
